Fluid Experts, Red Deer, Alberta - Company History
Company History

Historic FleetFluid Experts Ltd. started selling hauling fluid in 2004.  It was the last joint-venture for my father, Jake Martens, and I in the oilfield before he suddenly passed away in January 2008. He had devoted nearly 50 of his 69 years to the oilfield.  His first major company was light and heavy hauling primarily moving drilling rigs in the 1970’s after which he started doing some consulting, but eventually moved back to transportation in the mid 80’s.  Over the next 10 years he grew a well known company hauling acid and other types of fluid as well as bulk frac sand and cement.  I joined him in the hauling business in 1993 and one year later he sold the business and we started a new company to flush and clean oilfield equipment such as tanks and coiled tubing units.  We enjoyed great success over the next 9 years, but then felt it was time for a change again so we sold our branch in Grande Prairie and slowly converted our shop in Red Deer to a KCl and fluid terminal to service central Alberta soon adding tankers and tank trucks to our service as well.  We expanded to Three Hills in 2005 and then to Hanna.

Dad finally tried semi-retiring late in 2007 by moving to Ecuador where he and I ventured into some real estate development.  But his true love would always be the patch, never able to resist knowing how things were going and offering advice.  After his passing, Fluid Experts Ltd. had to undergo a major transition as circumstances have required most of my time to be devoted to the real estate in Ecuador and some new plans I am working on.  So I was very fortunate to be able to hand the management over to my well experienced, capable and trusted team.  They have done a terrific job and the changeover has infused the company with some new ideas and energy, while maintaining dedication to the principles upon which Fluid Experts was founded.
